--Somos Player Model for UT2k3--

This model is based on a character from HalfQuake: Amen, a Half-Life mod by muddasheep, blackjack and jazzymike. It is a little different to the normal kinds of model you'd find out there.. but that's because it is based on a world that may not have the same kind of laws as our own.

There are 2 versions of the model, the 'full effect' offline version and the online version. The offline version contains some other cool effects not usually found in player models, but due to cheat protection code, it will not show up when joining an internet server without the model installed on it.
The online version circumvents this problem, though unfortunately it doesn't have these cool effects enabled.
Feel free to use the offline version for your own practise sessions and LAN/Internet play, though note that it must be properly installed on the server machine with serverPackages entries in order to work (see end of readme for server installation).

This is my first attempt at a ut2k3 player model, in fact at any player model at all. It took about a week (on and off) to complete.

Note that in the offline model, effects spawn in a different location each time you respawn. Thus, even though you and your friends may use the same skin, you will still look different.

Known Issues

--Some pickups (damage amp etc) will cause the cube effect's particle system to stop working. Since it's merely a cosmetic problem that fixes itself on the next respawn, i chose to simply live with it.
--4 cubes with musical notes and clefs on them will stay visible when the somos dies or obtains invisibility. This is by design, not by accident. It's just to make invisibility a little less lame (:
--The lightning effect on the offline mesh stays visible when invisibility is picked up. Again, this is by design, not by mistake.
--When the player (using the offline model) dies, the particle effect ceases immediately instead of allowing a nice fadeout. This is a problem with some low-level code, and really it doesn't matter that much, so i chose just to ignore it.

Installation

Just run the *.ut2mod. If you don't plan to play online, you can skip the online player model. If you don't plan to host a server or play offline, skip the offline player model.

If running the UT2MOD doesn't work, do the following:
---From StartBar>Settings>Control Panel>Folder Options>Filetypes, add an Association for the .UT2MOD file extension
1. Enter a Description Type eg Unreal Module
2. Leave MIME option BLANK and enter in Associated extension type UT2MOD
3. In Actions add a new 1, Action called Install Unrealmodule
4. In Application set too peform put this exactly <UT2003DIRECTORY>\System\setup.exe install "%1"
5. click Ok and reboot for fix too take effect

OPTIONAL

If you want Somos�s bio to show up in-game, open your XPlayers.int file in notepad and add this to the bottom:

I recommend that you do this, as it makes it easier to tell the difference between the two versions.

Installing Full Effect Model on a Server

Simply add the line 'ServerPackages=somosPs' in the [Engine.GameEngine] section of your UT2003.ini (without the quotes).
