Resources

This page is more for me than anything, it's a collection of useful 3D/Maya resources.

Facial Studies

-Emotion Eric
Rather than be pretentious and take photos of my own face looking stupid in a variety of supposed expressions, I choose not to reinvent the wheel, and instead offer you: Emotion Eric.
Emotion Eric is great for two reasons: His sole online purpose is to act out facial expressions (of which there are hundereds), and he is amusing. The second element is most important here, as without humour I wouldn't have the patience to go through all of his website.

Body Studies

-3D.sk This website is the best site I have found for getting the human shape, thousands of reference pieces here, great for getting your character to look right.

Skeletal Studies

-anatomy-resources.com
I always find it useful to see a skeleton before i try and make one that bends a figure properly.

Lightwave > Maya Data Sharing

These are two projects which are aiming to integrate the two programs. One has a beta released, the other is (i think) still in development.
Anything 2 Anything
The Beaver Project

-Deep Exploration
Deep Exploration has support for the loading and saving of many different 2D and 3D file formats. It can read and write lightwave objects and scenes as well as maya ASCII and binary files.

-PolyTrans for Maya
This is a more specalist piece of software, in this case it is intended to run natively within the maya interface. It makes maya a much more open 3D package by allowing maya to import 3D content from virtually any other application.
